And he wants to be our Senator?

Maine Republican Party Reacts to Tom Allen Missing Another Vote
in Congress Maine GOP Chairman To Send Allen a Day-Timer to Help Manage His Schedule
Augusta, Maine
- Congressman Tom Allen missed another roll call vote in Congress this week.
The the vote was on H.R. 1700 -- the COPS Improvement Act of 2007 -- that allows for increases and extensions of federal grants to states for the purpose of enhancing law enforcement programs. Shortly after missing the vote, Congressman Allen made the following remarks on the floor of the House: "Mr. Speaker, in roll call 348, which I just missed a minute ago, the COPS Improvements Act of 2007, I am a strong supporter of that bill. That bill provides, we believe, 165 police positions in my home State of Maine. I certainly intended to vote for that bill and would have had I been in the Chamber at that moment," said Allen Maine Republican Party State Chairman Mark Ellis noted that this is a pattern for Allen. "If Tom Allen was really a 'strong supporter' of H.R. 1700, he could have simply voted for it. He was in the building for both the preceding and subsequent roll call votes that occurred less than 15 minutes apart. Perhaps the congressman is having difficulties managing his time. In the spirit of being helpful, I am sending him a Day-Timer so that he can better manage his schedule and become a more effective voice for the people of Maine in Congress," said Ellis. "This brings the total of votes missed by Allen to well over 100. That means that, with 10 years of service in Congress, Allen misses an average 10 votes per year. The people of Maine certainly deserve better," concluded Ellis.
